Bilindiği gibi, N ve FFP tipi maskelerde aranan endüstri standardı 0.3 mikrondur. (AJIC, Balazy N95) Bu nedenle, Nanoteknoloji kullanılarak üretilen yeni tip filtre maskelerle PFE değeri en üst düzeye çıkarılmakta ve yeni bir endüstri standardı oluşmaktadır. N95/FFP3 maskeler Tüberküloz basilini tam olarak tutarlar ama basiller maske ortamında yaşamaya, çoğalmaya ve yayılmaya devam ederler.
